I don’t know if you ever played the NFL or NBA Street games but when this OKC team turned up the intensity, it felt like a Gamebreaker moment in those games, where you automatically get a steal and are moving way faster than the opponent. As much as this team has a terrific collection of players, their system seemed to be just as important, the ability to never let up throughout a game. The fact that any of these players you highlighted could be that guy in a given game is testament to that. Thanks for the great coverage of this season, and for (Thunder)clapping it out for the champs.

Thank you for being along for the ride! And I've got plenty more planned for the summer. Funnily enough, August/September is usually a pretty good growth period for me, as I keep churning out stuff while most other outlets and writers take extended breaks or switch to covering future hypotheticals (power-ranking 2028 teams, etc) or historical events (a breakdown of the Chicago Bulls Jordan-era role players, etc).

I don't really have much interest in those kinds of articles. I try to stay focused on the immediate past and immediate future; that seems to resonate with readers.

Also, man, I LOVED NBA and NFL Street. I used to play NFL Street every day for like six months straight. We had a house rule that you had to lateral at least once on every single offensive play, which caused utter and complete chaos ha. Also used to do all-offensive-lineman teams vs. all-quarterback teams and things like that. Good times.

Looking forward to reading them, and glad to know you’re a fellow Street fan 😅😅

Great piece. I've been on the OKC bandwagon since before the Mavs eliminated them last year. But. I will say this: IF the Nuggets had, say, Nesmith instead of Porter ... or even Horford instead of Porter ... would OKC have even made the finals this year?! I think OKC deserved this title, and I think they are positioned to get another. But I also think the Nuggets are one "3 and D" move from making a run at their second in four years.

I think that's all true, but also... the Nuggets didn't. They absolutely were one solid wing away from beating the Thunder, but a series of bad and/or unlucky moves meant they weren't deep enough.

The Thunder's teambuilding has been so much better than anyone else's to date, including Denver's. There's no guarantee of future success, but they are far better positioned for it than any recent champion.
