Budenholzer is a great offence minded coach and what he did with the Hawks was awesome so this Suns team with a virtually turnover free PG in Jones should probably be a top 2 off rate team in the West, but are they just going to have to outpace teams in terms of scoring because a team with Jones, Beal, KD, Book and Nursic isn't stopping many teams
Yeah, hard to see them getting a ton of stops. I said the same thing last year, though, and they were still slightly above-average. I don't think they can replicate that, but if they can be, like, the second-best offense and the 18th-best defense, we have something interesting cooking!
Thanks mate, yeah having those off and D ratings and a healthy team will definitely worry a lot of teams in the West this season. Can you imagine Booker taking on a more defensive role. He really impressed me in the Olympics with his versatility and willingness to do the dirty work
He's been a decent defender for a while, but interestingly, Beal is actually the guy who usually had to match up with the hardest opponents (Durant if they were bigger).
Booker is a better defender than Beal, so it depends a little bit on whether coach Bud wants to save Booker's energy for offense or not, so I'm not quite sure what he'll do. But with Tyus Jone likely to take some of Grayson Allen's minutes, I suspect Booker will probably have to do a little more heavy lifting on defense, and I think he's capable of it.
