Starting now, I will be providing a weekly(-ish) bonus newsletter for paying subscribers. You all deserve more from me, and I’m trying to deliver. It might contain instructive or funny video clips, some cool stats I discovered, a short-form opinion piece about whatever’s going on in the basketball world, some combination thereof, or something else entirely! It depends on what catches my eye during the week.

This format will evolve as I learn what you all enjoy and what you don’t care about, so please keep the feedback flowing if there is something you do or don’t like. Right now, I plan to do a short essay, a clip, and a stat of the week. I think that’ll be a fun and engaging format, although I will change it up if I find something I (or you!) like better.

Thanks, and enjoy!

Stat of the Week

I don’t know that anyone cares about passing stats like I do. They are tricky to contextualize properly, can be easily misconstrued, and aren’t all that thrilling (“this guy received 0.4 more passes per game than that guy.” Wow.). But while I was doing research for a different article I’m working on, I dug deep into the NBA stats database to mess around with historical data (which, sadly, only goes back to 2013-2014) and found some interesting stuff.

Guess which player has the season with the most passes made per game. I’ll give you some hints:

  1. He’s a big man.

  2. No, it’s not Jokic.

**Excuse me for a second as I insert a devious paywall to convince free subscribers to upgrade**
